Purcellville, VA has something for everyone. What began in the 1800s as a traditionally agricultural town, with reliance on the nearby railroad, Purcellville is now moving toward a suburban single family home community with a historic town center. It has become a destination for wine lovers, history buffs, outdoor enthusiasts, and most of all families.
The town’s name is derived from one of its earliest inhabitants, Valentine Vernon Purcell, who established Purcel’s Store and Post Office sometime after 1804. With the widening of Route 7 in the late 1990’s, the area has seen continued increase in development. Today, many of the older structures remaining in Purcellville reflect the Victorian architecture popular during the turn-of-the-century.
Located in the western part of Loudoun County, Virginia, about nine miles west of the County Seat of Leesburg, Virginia and just east of the Blue Ridge Mountains (visible from many areas of town) Purcellville is only three miles square but has lots of things to do!

The town's educational institutions include public and private institutions for all grades and also Patrick Henry College, a private Christian liberal arts college.
