Purcellville, VA has something for everyone. What began in the 1800s as a traditionally agricultural town, with reliance on the nearby railroad, Purcellville is now moving toward a suburban single family home community with a historic town center. It has become a destination for wine lovers, history buffs, outdoor enthusiasts, and most of all families.

The town’s name is derived from one of its earliest inhabitants, Valentine Vernon Purcell, who established Purcel’s Store and Post Office sometime after 1804. With the widening of Route 7 in the late 1990’s, the area has seen continued increase in development. Today, many of the older structures remaining in Purcellville reflect the Victorian architecture popular during the turn-of-the-century.

Located in the western part of Loudoun County, Virginia, about nine miles west of the County Seat of Leesburg, Virginia and just east of the Blue Ridge Mountains (visible from many areas of town) Purcellville is only three miles square but has lots of things to do!

The town is home to:

·                   Several local wineries,

·                    Loudoun County’s first distillery since Prohibition

·                    Shopping

·                    Restaurants

·                    And Weekend entertainment and events!

The small town character and its setting in the scenic Loudoun Valley countryside make Purcellville a welcoming place to live.

There are several subdivisions, some with established homeowner associations:

·        Old Dominion Valley – a community of 193 homes

·        Catoctin Creek Village – A co-housing community on 164 acres. (Co-housing is a collaborative community with private homes, a common house and self-governance using consensus, workshare and cookshare.)

·        Wright Farm

·        Courts of St. Francis – a small community of less than 70 homes.

        ·        Purcellville Green – A Toll Brothers luxury townhome community with amenities

·        Black Oak Ridge – a community of single family homes set on 248 acres with home sites 3 acres and larger being built by Carrington Homes

The town's educational institutions include public and private institutions for all grades and also Patrick Henry College, a private Christian liberal arts college.

Window shop in the historic Old Town section of Purcellville, enjoy gourmet restaurants, or hike and bike along the W&OD Trail, which is a favorite amongst outdoor enthusiasts. There is something for everyone and something new to do every day!
